last updated february 6th, 2008:

the goldenhearts: i recently began playing drums with the goldenhearts - an acoustic act featuring roger rocha (ex 4 non blondes guitarist) on vocals & acoustic guitar, ari gorman on keys & cello, and nancy kuo on violin & cello. we just recorded some drum-tracks, and will be working on a full-length record in the next few months. in the meantime we'll be performing around the bay area, so check our myspace for upcoming gigs.

disastroid: i've been keeping pretty busy as the drummer for disastroid - having played over 20 shows so far. we've recorded some tracks at hyde st. studios in san francisco, and i've started to mix them. a new disastroid CD should be coming out soon. we also recorded a live performance at expressions college just across the bridge from SF in emeryville. you can check it out here.

rocket queens: the rocket queens are a bunch of lazy bastards, and really haven't been up to anything... except the random show here and there when we can all stand to be onstage with one-another long enough to get through a set.

old news... june 19th, 2007:

disastroid: after only 3 rehearsals, i embarked on a mini-west-coast tour playing drums with the band disastroid. so far we've played santa cruz, hollywood and corvallis, oregon - with upcoming shows in seattle, san francisco and oakland. check out our myspace page for details. check out our website to watch a video of our corvallis, oregon show.

old news... june 1st, 2007:

rocket queens: we have a show coming up at the DNA lounge in san francisco on thursday, june 7th with some really cool bands. click here for all the juicy details

pipsqueak: i've been rehearsing with a bass player (jack from stereo grande) and guitar player (brand from peg and pipsqueak) once a week down at my studio. three-piece instrumental pirate space robot rock is the only way i can really describe it. more to come.

suda: i adopted a cat back in january. her name is suda, she's a seal point siamese... about 8 or 9 months old now. she enjoys meowing, eating, and long walks on the beach... and fisherman's wharf. click here to see a photo.

disastroid: i auditioned for disastroid the other night at their san francisco rehearsal-spot. they rock! check out their myspace page and let me know what you think. i'm thinking about playing drums for them.

old news... september 4th, 2006:

ryan adams: i'm happy to announce that i'm going to europe with ryan adams. i was hired as a drum-tech for drummer brad pemberton. i'll work three shows in southern california, then will hop on a flight to the UK. click here to check out the tour schedule. i must have done something right sometime... somewhere... because it turns out that i have a day off in amsterdam on my birthday... happy birthday to me! check out show photos from the tour, video from the tour, and photos from my days off.

primus: i spent the end of july working with primus as a drum-tech for tim alexander. they played a festival in wisconsin, with a few rehearsals before in chicago. i'll be headed back out with them for a month-long US tour starting november 1st. check out photos from the festival and the tour here.

rhythm devils: i spent ten days on the east-coast in early august working for the rhythm devils as a drum-tech for bill kreutzmann. mickey hart also plays in the band - along with mike gordon from phish, steve kimock, sikiru - a master talking-drum player from nigeria, two singers - bobi and gwenys, and dj atom. we rehearsed in trey anistasio's barn in vermont, then played two shows in vermont, then virginia, then upstate new york. check out my photos from the tour here.

phil lesh & friends: i was out on an east-coast tour with phil lesh & friends working for drummer john molo, and also setting up musicpad pro's for phil, joan osbourne, john scofield, larry cambell, rob barraco, and trey anastasio. we spent about six weeks on the road starting in mid-june, playing around 26 shows. highlight of the trip include: meeting vanilla ice in scranton, PA outside our hotel on a day off, having a day off in fargo and our bus driver darrel... "hey buddy!"

oysterhead: this was probably one of the most exciting gigs i've scored in a while...working for stewart copeland - who along with les claypool and trey anastasio are oysterhead. they played at the bonnaroo festival in tennesee to a crowd of over 80,000 people. did i mention that i worked for STEWART COPELAND??!? check out my oysterhead photos here.

the chad: i've been so busy working, and will continue to be busy until mid-december. needless to say that there is not so much going on with the chad at the moment. let's see... i went shopping today and bought 4 bagels, apple juice, bananas, bread, toothpaste, and contact-lense cleaner.

old news... april 29th, 2006:

ryan adams/phil lesh: i was at the ryan adams solo shows this past wednesday and thursday at the palace of fine arts in san francisco. my buddy robie and i are hanging out backstage when ryan shows up and says that he needs a drum kit so that his producer jamie can sit in on drums during the encore along with phil lesh - who is also scheduled to play during the encore. i graciously offer to rent them a set of my drums for the show, then race down to pick them up. ryan played... then ryan, phil, and jamie played the encore... then i went home. upon arriving the next evening to watch the show then pick up my drums - i'm informed there's been a secret benefit show scheduled for after the show at a small club in the mission district called 12 galaxies, and that i've been chosen to play drums. having the imaginary courage that i needed, i proceeded to play to a sold-out crowd with ryan, phil and a guitar-tech named harry for over two hours. the setlist was filled with dead songs and ryan's songs - both of which i did my best to pretend to know. what a crazy night! check out video, photos and a review from the show. please let me know if you have pictures of video from the show. (interesting story about how 12 galaxies their name)

the chad: in case you haven't noticed, i've redesigned my website. rev it up, take it for a spin and let me know what you think. oh yeah... i'm looking for a new band. if you know of any good bands that need a drummer... please let me know, post haste!

emily hickey: i was hired to play drums on an upcoming release by bay area songwriter emily hickey. we spent some time together in may of 2005 working out the songs, then headed into the studio to lay down the bass and drum tracks in july. once they added guitar and vocals, i gathered the appropriate mess of percussion instruments and went back in to the studio for some over-dubs. the cd release party has been scheduled for tuesday, june 13th at the red devil lounge in san francisco. check the "shows" page for details.

phil lesh & friends: in july of 2005 i was in colorado for a run of PLF shows at red rocks - working as a drum-tech for jeff sipe. halloween on 2005 landed me in las vegas for a few PLF shows with sipe again, but this time i also took on the job of programming musicpad pro's for members of the band eventually to include phil lesh, chris robinson, joan osborne, ryan adams, larry campbell, and rob barraco. (a musicpad pro is a hardware/software product designed by freehand that enables convenient usage and storage of sheet music in digital format... basically a digital music stand). the winter of 2005 was spent on tour with phil lesh & friends working as a drum-tech for john molo and a musicpad pro-tech for chris robinson (black crowes) and phil lesh. we also did three PLF shows in san francisco for new years. i spent the month of february on the phil lesh & friends winter 2006 tour. this time around working once again as a drum-tech for jeff sipe, and i can honestly tell you that he is the best drummer i have ever seen play. i learned so much just from watching his approach to playing. we spent a couple of days in rehearsals, followed by two weeks of shows in new york city. it was great to be in one city for so long... it hardly felt like a tour, that is until we headed off to rhode island, then philadelphia. there were record low temperatures everywhere we went. rehearsals for the next PLF summer tour start in may - when i'll once again be working with drummer john molo

stereo grande: i think we played about 80 shows in the last year or so. having gone through a few singers, stereo grande started to lose it's momentum, and for that reason we decided to put the band on hold in early 2006. we're looking into making repairs... seeing if we can revive SG again. the test results aren't in yet. check back for details.

rocket queens: the rocket queens somehow made it into a movie. we're still trying to retrace our steps to figure out how it all happened. watch the movie trailer. i think we played three shows in the last year since i've updated my website. one of those shows was quite memorable in the fact that a group of burlesque dancers were performing onstage with the rocket queens. ok, now i've tried and tried... but i just can't seem to find anything wrong with girls taking their clothes off onstage while we're playing. not one thing, i tell you!
